Baridimob Redesign Home Screen

BaridiMob Mobile Banking App — Home Dashboard Redesign A complete redesign of the BaridiMob home dashboard focused on improving usability, information hierarchy, accessibility, and daily banking efficiency. By auditing the existing experience and addressing major UX pain points, I transformed the home screen into a modern financial dashboard that helps users access their balance, cards, payments, and recent activity faster with significantly less cognitive effort.

Baridimob Redesign Home Screen

Project Overview

BaridiMob is one of the most widely used mobile banking applications in Algeria. The application provides essential banking services including: Account management Money transfers Bill payments Card management Mobile recharge Banking operations While the application offers useful functionality, the Home experience had not evolved to match modern mobile banking standards. The objective of this redesign was to modernize the dashboard while respecting existing banking workflows and improving clarity, speed, and usability. My Role Product Designer (UI/UX) I independently led the redesign process from UX analysis to high-fidelity interface design. Responsibilities included: UX Audit Product Analysis Information Architecture User Flow Optimization Dashboard Strategy Visual Design Component Design Interaction Design Mobile UI Design System Project Goal The goal was not simply to create a prettier interface. The goal was to redesign the banking experience around the user's daily needs. The Home screen should instantly answer: What's my available balance? Can I transfer money immediately? What's my latest activity? Are there important notifications? What action should I take next? UX Audit 1. Outdated Visual Language Problem The original interface follows an old banking design style. Heavy borders Small typography Low-quality spacing Dense layouts Minimal hierarchy The interface feels functional but outdated. Solution I redesigned the experience using modern banking UI principles. Large cards Soft shadows Rounded corners Generous spacing Clear typography Premium visual language Result: The application immediately feels more trustworthy and contemporary. 2. Weak Information Hierarchy Problem The old dashboard gives equal visual importance to every section. Balance Card Limits Transfers Settings Everything competes for attention. Users need several seconds just to understand where to look. Solution I established a clear hierarchy. Priority 1 Greeting Notifications Search Priority 2 Account balance Priority 3 Quick actions Priority 4 Insights Priority 5 Transactions This dramatically improves scanability. 3. Account Balance Was Hidden Problem The most important banking information—the account balance—was visually buried. The card consumed space without clearly emphasizing available funds. Solution I designed a dedicated balance card that immediately communicates: Current Account Masked account number Available balance Quick account details Visibility toggle Users immediately understand their financial status. 4. No Personalized Experience Problem The previous interface felt generic. There was no sense of ownership or personalization. Solution I introduced: Greeting User name Current date Profile avatar This creates a more human banking experience. 5. Navigation Was Task-Oriented Instead of User-Oriented Problem Actions were mixed with technical banking terminology. Solution I reorganized the dashboard around the user's most frequent tasks. Transfer Pay Bills Recharge Cards Large touch targets make frequent operations faster. 6. Missing Financial Insights Problem The original application displayed raw banking information but offered no spending overview. Users had no visibility into their financial habits. Solution I introduced an Insights section showing: Today's spending Monthly spending Incoming money Monthly activity visualization This transforms data into meaningful financial awareness. 7. No Transaction Visibility Problem Users had to navigate elsewhere to understand recent account activity. Solution The Home screen now surfaces recent transactions. Each item includes: Icon Merchant Amount Status Time Users can verify account activity at a glance. 8. Weak Card Management Problem Card-related actions were separated from the primary experience. Expiration reminders were not prominent. Solution I added proactive card reminders. Example: Card expires in 12 days Users receive contextual guidance before encountering problems. 9. Poor Use of White Space Problem The original design used excessive empty areas in some places while overcrowding others. This created an inconsistent visual rhythm. Solution Spacing was redesigned using an 8-point spacing system. Consistent margins Balanced sections Improved readability Comfortable scrolling 10. Lack of Modern Dashboard Thinking Problem The old Home screen functioned as a menu rather than a dashboard. It displayed features instead of helping users make decisions. Solution The redesign turns Home into a financial command center. Users understand their account before taking action. UI Improvements The redesign modernized every visual aspect. Improved typography hierarchy Better icon consistency Rounded cards Soft shadows Higher contrast Modern banking aesthetics Improved accessibility Touch-friendly components Consistent spacing Premium visual quality Design Principles Applied The redesign follows established UX principles: Visual Hierarchy Progressive Disclosure Recognition over Recall Fitts's Law Hick's Law Accessibility Information Architecture Cognitive Load Reduction Dashboard Design Best Practices Design System Improvements Created reusable banking components. Balance Cards Transaction Cells Action Buttons Analytics Cards Notification Components Status Indicators Icon System Spacing Scale Typography Scale Color Tokens The interface is now scalable for future banking features. Impact The redesign improves the overall banking experience by: Faster access to essential banking information. Reduced cognitive load through better information architecture. Improved financial awareness with spending insights. More efficient daily banking tasks. Stronger trust through a modern visual design. Better accessibility and readability. Easier navigation with clearly prioritized actions. A scalable dashboard prepared for future banking features. Reflection This redesign was not about creating a more attractive interface—it was about rethinking how users interact with their finances every day. By identifying usability issues in the original experience and reorganizing information around real user priorities, I transformed the Home screen into a modern financial dashboard that supports faster decisions, reduces friction, and builds greater confidence in the product. The result is an experience that feels closer to leading digital banking applications while remaining familiar to existing BaridiMob users, minimizing the learning curve and preserving trust.
