Project Overview

CraftDZ is a mobile marketplace designed to connect customers with trusted local artisans and service professionals across Algeria. The platform simplifies the process of finding skilled workers such as electricians, plumbers, carpenters, painters, and other specialists through a modern, structured, and user-friendly mobile experience. The product was designed around two main user roles: Clients, who search for and book services, and Artisans, who provide services and manage their professional activity. The Challenge Finding a reliable local artisan can often be difficult and fragmented. Customers may depend on personal recommendations, social media posts, informal contacts, or unverified listings, making it challenging to compare professionals based on availability, expertise, pricing, location, and reputation. At the same time, skilled artisans often lack a dedicated digital platform where they can present their services, build trust through verified profiles and reviews, communicate with customers, and manage bookings efficiently. The challenge was to design a mobile experience that creates trust between both sides while keeping service discovery and booking simple. The Solution CraftDZ introduces a centralized service marketplace where customers can discover artisans by category, search for specific services, compare professionals, check ratings and availability, and book services directly from the application. The experience was structured to reduce friction throughout the complete journey: Discover → Search → Compare → View Profile → Book → Communicate → Manage The interface combines clear navigation, structured service information, strong calls to action, and familiar interaction patterns to make the platform accessible to a broad audience. User Roles Client Experience Clients can create an account, browse service categories, search for artisans, compare professionals, review ratings and availability, manage bookings, communicate through messaging, save preferred artisans, and monitor recent activity. The client experience focuses on speed, transparency, and confidence when choosing a professional. Artisan Experience The artisan side is designed around service delivery and professional activity management. Artisans can establish their presence on the platform, receive booking opportunities, communicate with customers, manage service requests, and build reputation through completed work and customer feedback. This dual-role architecture allows CraftDZ to operate as a complete two-sided marketplace rather than a simple directory. Service Discovery The home experience provides immediate access to popular and relevant service categories such as: * Carpentry * Electrical services * Plumbing * Painting * Additional local professional services Users can explore popular categories, view top-rated artisans, and quickly move from discovery to booking. The category system was designed with recognizable visual icons and strong hierarchy to improve scanning and reduce cognitive load. Smart Search & Filtering CraftDZ includes a dedicated artisan discovery experience that helps users search by service or professional. Search results provide decision-making information such as: * Artisan name * Profession * Rating and review count * Distance * Hourly pricing * Skills and specialties * Availability * Verification status Users can also sort and filter results to identify the most suitable professional for their needs. Trust & Verification Trust is a critical component of a local service marketplace. The interface introduces clear trust signals through verified profile indicators, customer ratings, review counts, transparent pricing, location information, availability status, and professional specialties. These elements help customers evaluate artisans before making a booking decision and reduce uncertainty throughout the experience. Booking Experience The booking system was designed to make service requests simple and actionable. Customers can identify available artisans, initiate bookings directly from search and discovery screens, review upcoming appointments, monitor booking status, and reschedule when necessary. Clear status indicators such as Confirmed, Pending, and Completed improve visibility across the booking lifecycle. Messaging & Communication Integrated messaging supports direct communication between customers and artisans. This allows users to discuss service details, clarify requirements, coordinate appointments, and stay connected without leaving the platform. Notifications and unread indicators were incorporated into the navigation system to make important updates easy to notice. ⸻ Personalized Dashboard The client dashboard provides a clear overview of ongoing activity. Users can quickly access: * Upcoming bookings * Completed services * Average ratings * Recent activity * Messages * Notifications * Saved artisans * Quick service discovery The dashboard prioritizes the most relevant actions while maintaining a clean and focused interface. Authentication & Onboarding The registration experience supports different account types and authentication preferences. Users can choose between: * Client account * Artisan account * Email registration * Phone registration * Social authentication options The role-selection system makes the onboarding experience adaptable to the two-sided marketplace model. Design System The visual identity combines a strong navy blue foundation with an energetic yellow accent, creating a balance between trust, professionalism, accessibility, and action. The interface uses: * Consistent card components * Rounded surfaces * Clear typography hierarchy * High-visibility CTA buttons * Semantic status colors * Reusable category icons * Structured spacing * Mobile-first navigation patterns The design system supports consistency across discovery, authentication, search, booking, messaging, and dashboard experiences. ⸻ UX Strategy The UX strategy focused on reducing the number of steps required to find and contact a suitable artisan. Key decisions included: * Exposing service categories early * Highlighting top-rated professionals * Showing pricing before booking * Making availability immediately visible * Providing direct View and Book actions * Keeping persistent access to search, bookings, messages, and profile * Using clear booking status indicators * Supporting both client and artisan journeys These decisions create a more predictable and efficient marketplace experience. Key Features * Dual Client and Artisan roles * Email and phone registration * Service category discovery * Artisan search * Advanced filtering and sorting * Verified professional profiles * Ratings and reviews * Distance-based discovery * Transparent service pricing * Availability indicators * Direct booking * Booking status management * Rescheduling * Real-time messaging experience * Notifications * Saved artisans * Personalized dashboards * Recent activity tracking * Mobile-first responsive interface Outcome CraftDZ demonstrates how a fragmented local service discovery process can be transformed into a structured digital marketplace. The final experience provides customers with a clearer way to discover and evaluate trusted professionals while giving artisans a dedicated environment to increase visibility, manage opportunities, communicate with customers, and build long-term reputation. The result is a scalable mobile product concept tailored to the Algerian service economy, combining local relevance, marketplace functionality, trust mechanisms, and a modern user experience.
